Description of Lisa Roberts
I have a deep love of athletics, having been involved in team and individual sport (track & field, cross country, soccer, softball and basketball) since I was 9 years old. My formal athletics career began in 1996 as collegiate distance runner in Illinois, USA. After moving to Tucson, Arizona in 2000, I was encouraged to try triathlon and cycling as a change from the many years of running. I enjoyed the new challenge immediately and learned the sport through lots of practice, talking to others and most of all observing what highly experienced, successful athletes were doing to be at the top of the sport. I started with local sprint triathlons in 2002, working up to longer distances over the years - now having completed well over 100 global triathlon races of varying distances - 30 of which are iron distance. I have qualified for Kona three times as a professional and continue to work with Brett and Mary Beth Ellis as I finish the last few years of my professional racing career and transition to full time coaching.
What have you achieved in your coaching career?
Multiple AG podiums; Coached multiple AG athletes from sprint to Iron distance racing; Assisted with triathlon camps and alpine cycling tours over the last 6 years; Educated dozens of youth about the sport of triathlon
Why do you work with Trisutto?
The practical, no-nonsense Trisutto philosophy mirrors my own approach to athletics and coaching. Having personal experience with Brett’s coaching and the squad structure the past 3 years, I have found great success using these methods. I want to pass this along to my athletes and help expand our reach to the larger triathlon community.
