Sold out children's triathlon event to raise funds for charity

June 28

A children's triathlon event promoting the benefits of participating in sport, will be held for the second consecutive year in Athens, Greece, on Saturday 2 June at the CGS athletic facilities.

The Kids Cup by Nicola Spirig, which is already fully booked, will raise funds for the Spirit Foundation, an international organisation established by Nicola Spirig, Swiss triathlon European champion and Olympic Gold and Silver medal winner in triathlon.

The event entry fee and all other proceeds of the event will be donated to the Association of non-profit NGOs “Together for Children”.

Nicola Spirig developed the Kids Cups events with the aim of encouraging children to participate in physical activity like a triathlon event to demonstrate that sport is fun, exciting and rewarding for both children and their families.
More than 4000 children have competed in the Kids Cups events in Switzerland, Cyprus and now for the second year, in Athens.
Nicola Spirig said: “These events are a passion of mine and I am committed to helping children discover the pleasures of participating in sport.

“I am always very happy to see so many children have such a great time at the events and for the Athen's Kids Cup to be fully booked a week before the event itself is really positive. ”
Nicola added that the Kids Cup events were not about winning the race, but about allowing all the children to be part of something fun and feeling proud that they completed the swim, bike and run.
