Coach Aleksandr Mitrokhin

Moscow, Russia
For over 10 years I’ve been involved in triathlon as an Age Group athlete and for 7 years as a coach — the last 4 of those as a Certified Trisutto Coach.
I'm passionate about helping people build sport into their lifestyle, not as a one-off goal, but as a long-term and meaningful part of their life.

Description
Coming from a background in management, I understand firsthand the challenges of balancing work, family and sport. My coaching approach reflects this reality — with structure, purpose, and sustainability. In 2019, I founded the triathlon team “Кони на Коне” (Gunning for Kona), whose athletes regularly place on local podiums and achieve strong results at Ironman races in their age groups. Mostly work with athletes online.
My coaching is shaped by a lifelong commitment to analytical thinking and system approach. In 1994, I earned 3rd place in physics at the International Young Physicists' Tournament in Groningen, Netherlands. This led to studies in applied mathematics and a career in IT. Sport was never far away, but it wasn't a priority — until 2013, when I found myself at 103 kg and decided it was time for change.
Through consistent daily work, I discovered that sustainable results come not from heroic efforts, but from disciplined routine. I began with running, and soon dive in triathlon 2015. As I worked to integrate training into the life of a father, busy professional and a sportsman, I began learning - from my coaches and experiences — eventually progressing from an 11:37 Ironman finish in 2016 to 10:17 in 2022.
I coach based on this experience, paired with a thoughtful approach to methods I’ve used, observed, and tested. I attracted like-minded athletes — people who also didn’t want to suffer through every session or race. As I tell them: “If you can’t smile during the race, you’re going too hard.” No power meter or heart rate monitor can teach you that.
When I discovered Trisutto and Brett Sutton’s methodology, I realized: I wasn’t wrong after all. I first worked with a certified Trisutto coach and soon became certified myself.
I’m proud to be part of the Trisutto coaching team.
Coaching Style and Background
Why do you work with Trisutto?
“Consistency is a key” and “no pain – no gain” has ruined more athletes than anything else» – these ideas resonate with me and my athletes.
In a world of gimmicks and gadgets, we keep returning to the core truths – truths that are already embedded in Trisutto principles. Low cadence work, the value of high cadence, the reality that most testing doesn’t help in real races – it’s all been said before. Coach Sutton just said it louder.
No newest gadget, shoe or bike will make you faster if you don’t know and feel yourself.
