Don't be a bull in a china shop!



Many triathletes today rely heavily on data, tracking everything! Instead of being a slave to numbers that don't matter, Trisutto athletes have achieved massive success while finding renewed enjoyment in their training and racing.


This naturally leads to the question:

If I can’t see progress in the numbers day to day, how do I know I’m improving?

The answer is by learning 'feel' and 'finesse' in your training.


Listening to your body doesn't only answer questions.  

It also acts as feedback into the daily question of 'how hard should I push today'


Bulls in a china shop end up breaking crockery or in triathlon terms getting sick and/or injured more frequently.


So...

The athlete who is listening and using feel in training (the art of training) will notice signs... and if they don't they need to develop more of a feel! 


But what does this really mean?


You feel more able to manage the workload consistently


  • On the bike 20 × 1 min big gear is now bread and butter.

    You notice you do the same workout with the same cadence in 2 gears harder. 


  • On the treadmill you don't attempt to beat previous run paces. However you 'notice' a progression over months on paces such as mod med mad workouts; or mad is now controlled and you can play with it; rather that it controlling you. 


  • In the swim, instead of fading, now you gobble up the workout.  

    You can push out the last 1/3rd of the swim really strongly.



Signs are everywhere. You just need to be open to reading them.


It’s as much about feeling as it is about numbers.


And yes race day numbers are mostly meaningless.  

Go 4:20 somewhere is the same as 4:30 somewhere else. 

Just depends on the course, conditions, etc that can change from year to year and even day to day.


Be Consistent. Trust the process. Achieve results.
