After a three year hiatus, it was fantastic to see triathlon return to the inner city of Zurich this past weekend with the running of the Zurich City Triathlon. Our team were well represented with our pros, age group athletes and coaches supporting this event which has taken on a new format and race course.
Nicola Spirig and Nina Derron both put on an impressive display by taking first and second in the women's race. A very strong performance from Team Erat, with Lucia and Pablo finishing fourth and first in their categories respectively. Well done also to Coaches Pascale and Marco who both raced as well as having their own athletes complete.
Elsewhere in Europe Ellie and Tom Garrett joined Ralf Battenfeld at Challenge Walchsee. A winter of consistency helped Ralf to a good race as we build to Ironman Finland in August. Following a months training camp in St.Moritz, Ellie and Tom finally got to race this event after two years of postponement and travel restrictions. Both put in a very good effort and return home with renewed focus.
Well done also to Robert Schoenberger who qualifed for the European sprint championships with a fifth overall and second place category at his regional championships.
At Ironman Frankfurt Roman Bravo showed resolve after his bike and luggage went missing on his flights from Ecuador to Germany. Roman completed the race on a borrowed road bike, and with a smile.
